Mamie Labon Foster Living/Learning Complex
Male and Female Residence Hall
Foster Complex is a five-story suite-style air-conditioned residence hall, and it is home to over 600 first-year undergraduate male and female students. Each suite has two bedrooms and living space for four to six male/female students, who share a common living room and kitchenette area. The suite comes with a microwave and small refrigerator.The facility also houses the east campus cafeteria. The Foster Complex has elevators, study lounges, free laundry facilities, cable television, a computer lab, and wireless Internet.
History
Mamie Labon Foster was the first female President Pro Tempore of the Alabama A&M University Board of Trustees. Born June 12, 1912, she graduated from Rosedale Elementary School. She completed studies at Alabama A&M Institute High School and received the junior college diploma and B.S. degree (1946) in elementary education from what was Alabama A&M College. She also received two Masters of Arts Degrees from Teachers College Columbia University in New York City.
