QEP FAQs

  • What was the previous QEP topic?

The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) used “Dare to Think!” as its slogan, from 2015-2019. The five-year plan described a carefully designed course of action that addressed a well-defined and focused topic related to improving students' learning in general education. SACSCOC requires each of its member institutions to develop a QEP as a component of the accreditation process (Core Requirement 2.12). “Dare to Think!” fulfills the requirement for Alabama A&M and was approved with “no recommendations.” The University was reaffirmed during the annual meeting of the commission held in Nashville, Tennessee, in December 2014.

  • How are students assessed in the QEP?

  • What are the goals of the QEP?

The overall goal of a QEP is to enhance student learning by targeting a specific area where students may require additional methods of quality instruction.

However, specific goals are used to provide focus for the QEP in order to measure the efficacy with assessments. These specific goals change with each new QEP, based on the focus topic.

  • What is the duration of a QEP?

A new QEP is required every 10 years for reaccreditation. A QEP is actively incorporated into curriculum for 5 years, per SACSCOC requirements. During the following 5 years, the university can continue to utilize the QEP and will begin discussing, researching, and planning for a new QEP.
