Bachelor of Science in Physical Education
The mission of the Alabama A&M University Physical Education Program is to produce teaching professionals who know and can apply discipline-specific scientific and theoretical concepts vital to developing physically educated P-12 students, by supplying them with a comprehensive physical education teaching curriculum.
About This Program
Teacher candidates in this program will be able to:
- Demonstrate an ability to perform motor tasks and movement patterns that are fundamental to a variety of physical activities.
- Demonstrate an ability to use effective communication and pedagogical skills/strategies
to enhance (P-12) student engagement and achievement.
The Physical Education programs provide course work and related activities leading to competencies in the area of Physical Education. The courses embrace sufficient scope in content and variety in activities to fully equip a prospective graduate with adequate educational orientation and activity skills to meet the demands of the teaching profession. Practicum experiences with public school students, internships, and directed teaching are integral parts of the four year curriculum.
Career Fields
Students completing the Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education are eligible for the State of Alabama Class "B" Teacher Certificate.
