Get Involved

We offer students an opportunity to take an active role in the student conduct process by applying for the Student Conduct Board.

Student Conduct Board

The Student Conduct Board is a student-led organization, whose members are selected by the Associate Vice President and Student Conduct Coordinator to provide independent, peer viewpoints on potential academic and behavioral misconduct violations.

Board members serve on panels to hear alleged violations of the Residential Guide to Campus Living, Student Code of Conduct, issue formal decisions, and in cases where a student is found to be responsible for a violation, recommend appropriate and proportionate sanctions.

Membership

All board members must, at the time of their application and for the whole of their term:

      1. maintain enrollment in at least twelve hours of coursework for undergraduates or nine hours of coursework for graduate students at AAMUfor each term, and
      2. maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
      3. remain in good academic and behavioral standing with the university.

Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be considered for membership.

Membership Requirements

Membership also requires a commitment to serving a one-year appointment. Board members may be eligible for a second appointment at the end of their first term.

Upon selection, board members will be required to meet the following expectations:

      1. Attend an onboarding training session,
      2. Attend mandatory training every semester,
      3. Attend at least three additional trainings and two social events over the course of an academic year,
      4. Maintain regular availability to serve on hearing panels, and
      5. Respond promptly to emails from staff and the Student Conduct Board chair or co-chair.
