Adekunle to Present AI Research at Regional Conference

Adeyori Adekunle, a sophomore computer science major from Osun State, Nigeria, has been selected to present his research at the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Mid-Southeast Chapter Conference Nov. 13–14 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Adekunle’s presentation, titled “Comparative Evaluation of Large Language Models for Cybersecurity Code Generation: GPT-4o, Claude-3, and Gemini,” examines how leading large language models (LLMs) perform on security-related coding tasks. His research evaluates the code outputs of each model to determine their success rates and identify their respective strengths and limitations.

This innovative study offers timely insights into the growing role of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity and highlights the potential of LLM-based tools in secure software development. Adekunle is the only Alabama A&M University student presenting at this year’s ACM Mid-Southeast Conference, an annual regional event that draws students and professionals from across the Southeast to share advances in computing and technology.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Adeyori,” said Dr. Ed Pearson III, faculty advisor and assistant professor of computer science. “It shows that hard work and dedication truly pay off. I’m also thankful for the support that made this research possible through the National Science Foundation’s ExpandAI Program.”

Originally from Osun State, Nigeria, Adekunle credits his faith and determination for guiding his academic journey. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do,” he said. “I’m honored to represent Alabama A&M University on a regional stage and proud to showcase the innovative work being done by our students and faculty.”
